Maggie and Chase Get Married

I can't believe it has been a year since the last time I blogged.  It has been a busy year!  I need to write about things that have happened in the past year but for now, I will write about Maggie and Chase's wedding.

In a past blog you may remember that Chase proposed to Maggie at midnight 2022-2023 in our basement in front of a pile of junk because we were having our basement bathroom and floor put in (a story coming later).

Molly and I soon planned a trip to Athens to help them pick out a venue for the wedding.  We went to two and then went to the Globe, a local bar and eatery to decide which venue and to talk about the wedding.  Boy did we ever have fun and ended up spending the whole day.

Soon after this trip, Mike and I received a phone call from Maggie and asked if we were sitting down. I knew right away what she was going to tell us.  She called to tell us she was pregnant!  We were so excited but quickly did some math to see when the baby would come and if it would be near the wedding date.  Luckily, he would come in January and the wedding was in March.  We were going to be grandparents!!

Wedding plans continued. Maggie had to dress shop while pregnant. I was sad I wasn't able to be there but she had plenty of friends with her.  With my new job,  I had to save up my vacation time for baby and wedding.

We discussed what we were going to do for Christmas because Maggie would be too close to delivery to travel.  We were happy they Maggie and Chase decided to come up for Thanksgiving.  It was special to see our daughter very pregnant.

We got the phone call early January 4th.  They were headed to the hospital and Finnan was born that day. We were so excited but I waited a few days before heading down.

After I got home, Mike went to Athens to meet Finnan.

At four weeks old, Chase had Finnan working in the music studio already.

The wedding week was here!  Mike and I started our trip down to Athens with a car packed with suitcases and wedding stuff.  We decided to stay overnight in Murfreesboro, TN so we wouldn't be exhausted when we got there.  We left the hotel and about five minutes down the road we had a flat tire.  Scary on an interstate but I was able to pull over onto a pretty big shoulder.  I called AAA and they were there in less than 15 minutes.  He was happy to see that we had unloaded the car and pulled out the doughnut.

We followed the AAA guy to the nearest Walmart and found out we had to buy a new tire.  Whatever I ran over damaged the inside of the tire too.

We stayed in a very nice AirBNB that had 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms which was perfect because we had 12 people staying over Saturday night, the night before the wedding.

We didn't have a rehearsal but we did have a cookout and we played Bride Bingo.

It was so nice to have everyone together.

Sunday morning we woke early to feed breakfast to the 12 of us and to also get ready for the big day. We had a stylist come to the house to make us pretty.  This was the first time in my entire life I had fake eyelashes put on me.

I had to be at the venue at 1pm to start setting up for the 5pm start.  It was going to be a long day. Yes, that is a drum set on the stage.  There was a concert!

We don't have the professional photos yet but here are some that I have from other people.  I didn't carry my phone on me that night.

It was a beautiful wedding and everyone enjoyed themselves.  The next day was relax day.

We were able to get a few games of the Bride Game in. Maggie never won.

It was sad to see everyone leave and it was hard to leave Maggie, Chase, and Finnan.  I could have stayed another month or so!

Now on to planning the next wedding.
