Molly and Adrien Got Married!

My last blog was about Maggie and Chase getting married.  Three months later, almost to the day, Molly and Adrien got married on June 22, 2024.

Molly envisioned a small garden wedding within trees and flowers. We looked for an outdoor area that would include everything she wanted and found Vander Veer park. Molly booked the rose garden for June 8th.  She then started looking for a photographer but couldn't find one for that date so she changed the wedding to June 22 to work with the photographer's schedule.  It turned out to be a perfect day.  Adrien's family lives in France and it was sad they were not able to make it in June, but we are looking forward to and are very excited they will be coming later in the year for the reception we have planned for the couple.

Molly found her dress at the second bridal store we went to. She tried on many but not a lot. She knew what she wanted. She later bought lace and I made straps for the dress.

I gave Molly my grandmother's diamond my mom had given me. Molly designed the setting and found a jeweler to make it.

Molly decided to buy wood flowers. I didn't know what she was talking about when she told me but they turned out beautiful!  We dyed them the colors she picked for the special day and had a lot of fun doing so.

We then made the bouquet, corsages, and boutonnieres.  They turned out beautiful!

The special day finally arrived.

We started the day with breakfast and then Molly, Maggie, and I headed out to have our hair and makeup done.  My friend Tami owns Merle Norman and we had asked her if she would do our makeup. Her daughter does hair so it worked out perfectly! Tami did my makeup for my wedding over 40 years ago!!

A customer came into the store and asked if someone was getting married. When we said yes, she had advice for the bride, always give him a hug in the morning and a hug at night.  When she said this I thought of the photo I took before we left the house for the day.

We then went to the Current Hotel in downtown Davenport to have lunch and to get ready while the guys stayed home to get ready.

It was a windy day.

There was a total of eleven people including the bride and groom so it was very intimate.  Molly's grandma Janelle, finally made it to a grandchild's wedding.  We worried about her driving to Davenport so her sister Sharon brought her.

Molly asked her cousin Brice to be the officiant.  He was happy to!

This is a photo of two nervous guys as they wait for the ceremony to begin.

Molly said that when she walked down the aisle........

She saw this........

And yes, I am trying not to cry.

We didn't get a photo of the ring bearer, baby Finnan, handing them the rings but Molly said it was really cute. He grabbed the rings as if to hand to them, like he knew what he was supposed to do!

It was a beautiful ceremony.

After the short ceremony, it was time for photos. The following photo is of everyone that was there.

Brice Petsel, his fiancee Lauryn, Sharon Kell, Janelle Sproston, Michael Sproston, Elizabeth Sproston, Molly Sproston, Adrien Johnson, Maggie Sproston with baby Finnan Brown, and Chase Brown.

We went back to our house to eat cake and drink champagne while we waited for the catered food to arrive.

The owner of the Olive Tree was very excited to walk into the house to find a bride and groom.  He was honored to be asked to be in a photo with them.

One happy family!!

And some more photos.

Maggie and Chase Get Married

I can't believe it has been a year since the last time I blogged.  It has been a busy year!  I need to write about things that have happened in the past year but for now, I will write about Maggie and Chase's wedding.

In a past blog you may remember that Chase proposed to Maggie at midnight 2022-2023 in our basement in front of a pile of junk because we were having our basement bathroom and floor put in (a story coming later).

Molly and I soon planned a trip to Athens to help them pick out a venue for the wedding.  We went to two and then went to the Globe, a local bar and eatery to decide which venue and to talk about the wedding.  Boy did we ever have fun and ended up spending the whole day.

Soon after this trip, Mike and I received a phone call from Maggie and asked if we were sitting down. I knew right away what she was going to tell us.  She called to tell us she was pregnant!  We were so excited but quickly did some math to see when the baby would come and if it would be near the wedding date.  Luckily, he would come in January and the wedding was in March.  We were going to be grandparents!!

Wedding plans continued. Maggie had to dress shop while pregnant. I was sad I wasn't able to be there but she had plenty of friends with her.  With my new job,  I had to save up my vacation time for baby and wedding.

We discussed what we were going to do for Christmas because Maggie would be too close to delivery to travel.  We were happy they Maggie and Chase decided to come up for Thanksgiving.  It was special to see our daughter very pregnant.

We got the phone call early January 4th.  They were headed to the hospital and Finnan was born that day. We were so excited but I waited a few days before heading down.

After I got home, Mike went to Athens to meet Finnan.

At four weeks old, Chase had Finnan working in the music studio already.

The wedding week was here!  Mike and I started our trip down to Athens with a car packed with suitcases and wedding stuff.  We decided to stay overnight in Murfreesboro, TN so we wouldn't be exhausted when we got there.  We left the hotel and about five minutes down the road we had a flat tire.  Scary on an interstate but I was able to pull over onto a pretty big shoulder.  I called AAA and they were there in less than 15 minutes.  He was happy to see that we had unloaded the car and pulled out the doughnut.

We followed the AAA guy to the nearest Walmart and found out we had to buy a new tire.  Whatever I ran over damaged the inside of the tire too.

We stayed in a very nice AirBNB that had 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms which was perfect because we had 12 people staying over Saturday night, the night before the wedding.

We didn't have a rehearsal but we did have a cookout and we played Bride Bingo.

It was so nice to have everyone together.

Sunday morning we woke early to feed breakfast to the 12 of us and to also get ready for the big day. We had a stylist come to the house to make us pretty.  This was the first time in my entire life I had fake eyelashes put on me.

I had to be at the venue at 1pm to start setting up for the 5pm start.  It was going to be a long day. Yes, that is a drum set on the stage.  There was a concert!

We don't have the professional photos yet but here are some that I have from other people.  I didn't carry my phone on me that night.

It was a beautiful wedding and everyone enjoyed themselves.  The next day was relax day.

We were able to get a few games of the Bride Game in. Maggie never won.

It was sad to see everyone leave and it was hard to leave Maggie, Chase, and Finnan.  I could have stayed another month or so!

Now on to planning the next wedding.
