Yesterday, Mike and I went hiking in Big Cat Park, as Mike called it. I had forgotten how beautiful this park is. I am sure it has been over 40 years since I have been here. I believe this is the park my high school friend fell off a cliff and broke her leg and I never went back after that. I wasn't with her when this happened, but remember her on crutches. The sign at the trail head warns not to climb or repel. It is hard not to climb when you want a photo of you with a backdrop of caverns and cliffs.
This is my frightened climber selfie pose.
They have an old grist mill in the park that no longer has the wheel. As you can see, we haven't had rain in quite awhile. Usually, it looks like a waterfall.
They also have an old one room schoolhouse. I forgot to take a picture of that but I found the outhouse.
We had a great time and Mike's fitbit said we took over 7000 steps. The Wild Cat Den website states the trail is around 4 miles. Good thing we did this early in the morning because the day became very hot.
After we got home, I relaxed and worked on the cranes. I found a bag of Origami cranes at a yard sale and knew instantly they needed to be strung up with beads.
Once I made a few, sisters, daughters, and friends all wanted one. I decided this would be something I could sell at the craft fair in November. For many years I have wanted to sell things at a craft fair, just for fun and to see how it all works. I was running out of cranes so I ordered Origami paper and watched videos on how to make the birds. It's addicting! I can't stop folding these creatures and I have piles of them everywhere!
Our new patio table has turned into crane/bead table. As you can see, my usual helper with my projects couldn't wait to join me and help with the beads.
The finished project........
I have more Origami paper on the way!
